Colonial Farmhouse Bath for Teen Sisters

PMID outfitted this bathing suite with a double vanity and a separate tub-and-shower room for two teen-age sisters. Pat wanted to retain the original beams in this house, nearly 200 years old, so after much discussion with her clients, 13 and 15, and their parents, Pat used the theme of an old beach cottage with a clean modern feel and lots of pizz-azz. Originally a bedroom and bath, the 21' x 16' area would now have to serve as a bathing area for an adjoining guest suite as well. So Pat designed the space retaining the original doors leading from guest bath to the shared tub-and-shower room and to the girls' private washing area. Pat designed transom-like openings at the top of the shower wall so that the natural light from the window above the bath would filter in above the vanities and still allow privacy.
The bathing room has a floor-to-ceiling sweep of mosaic blue-glass tiles in keeping with the sea-side theme.
In the vanity room the walls and floor are covered with 12"x12" white glass tiles. Frameless mirrors are set into the wall tile and bronze faucets are set into the mirrors like spigots coming out of a pool of water.
