Lighting Design

Among the many professionals who help build and remodel your home and office spaces, the interior designer is best equipped to do the lighting design.  A collaborative relationship with a designer best reveals how you will live and work in these spaces, where the furniture will be placed, and which materials best suit your needs, style and budget.  

I develop lighting plans for single rooms, whole houses, and professional offices. These plans include

  1. Concept and Design Consult: Discussion with client about the functions performed in the spaces, the design of the furnishings, and thus how to best light the spaces for task, ambient, and mood lighting.
  2. Reflected Ceiling Plans:Drafting the plans to show exact placement of all recessed, surface ceiling, and pendant lighting on the ceiling. Drafting elevations of the walls to show placement of wall sconces.  Drafting floor plans to show placement of floor outlets to accommodate table lamps and floor lamps.
  3. On-Site Consultation: Consultation on site rather than using architectural plans.
  4. Electrical Walk-Through: Working with the electrician to insure electrical devices are being properly placed.
  5. Fixture Specifications: Selection of specific fixtures from catalogues or showrooms and writing out the orders to ensure all details are correct.
  6. Lighting Control: Specifying all on/off devices, dimmers, panels for grouping, specific devices to be grouped, and locating all of these for the electrician.
